I think this sort of thing can only happen when you have a physics engine determining fall damage. There's no reason for Jessie to have died simply stepping off a hay bale but some glitch made it register as if she fell off a much taller structure.

I edited the strip after I posted when Jessie suggested I draw myself as Francis. I usually play as him and dressing myself up as him was the original plan; I'd just forgotten to do so. I figured the vest itself was kind of boring so I added some fun tattoos. Here's a closeup.
